When I heard the explosion Saturday morning, from our home in Garland, Texas, I had no idea what had caused "that sound." Even after hearing on TV that the shuttle had exploded, I hadn't made the connection. It was not until I was later in the grocery store checkout, upon overhearing the gentleman behind me talking about the tradegy on the phone, that I made the connection. I turned around to him, and after excusing myself for overhearing part of his conversation, told him that I had just then realized what I had heard. With chills and a realization like no other, this stranger and I had an everlasting connection. I will always remember how our eyes filled with tears as together we felt a common bond of sorrow for the heroic crew of the space shuttle. I am but one human being, but I wish for my heartfelt prayers of sympathy, added to the millions of others around the world who feel as I, to be felt by the families, co-workers, and friends of the space shuttle crew in a way that will allow them to feel an inner peace during this most grievious time.
